The
ZEDfactory Ltd (formerly Bill Dunster Architects) is a 20 strong
practice established in 1998. We have extensive experience in the
design and realisation of energy efficient buildings of all types and
sizes. We believe that to combat global climate change and reduce
carbon emissions we need to offer more than energy efficient buildings.
Our target is a zero carbon / zero waste society capable of running off
the limited supplies of renewable energy and resource available within
each nations boundaries worldwide. The ZEDfactory also has access to
additional specialist expertise from a range of consultants, which it
uses regularly.
As leaders in the field of zero-carbon design and development, we have
a unique track record of delivering Zero (fossil) Energy Development
(ZED) buildings in the UK .
We offer the full range of architectural services, from masterplanning
and design of large-scale 'eco villages' to one-off individual building
commissions. We also offer architect-developer services under our "land
partnering" initiative, where we employ a range of 'standard'
house-types and off-site manufacture to minimise risk and cost.
We are always pushing the boundaries to try to advance the construction
industry's approach to low-carbon, low-impact buildings and to make the
technologies and thinking more accessible to all. We do this in all
sorts of ways - our current initiatives include the Zedbook published by Taylor and
Francis and the supply chain ZEDfabric to make microgeneration kit
affordable in the UK and China.
